Making his mark on his own terms
The actor is playing a supporting character in The Legend directed by Jomon
Action roles have been the forte of Rajeev Pillai thanks to his muscular looks. However, this time the actor also gets to don a more meaty character in the role of a cop through Jomon’s The Legend. “Jomon sir is returning to filmmaking after such a long time and to get to do a role that is almost as important as that of Dileep sir’s lead role is a great opportunity. It’s a strong character and I have a lot of action and chase sequences in the film. The story of The Legend is based on a real life incident and it is something we go through even today in our society. Jomon sir had been researching for the characters for the past one year.”
“The look for the character has already been finalised and he will be explaining the character details and nuances to us before the shoot which we will be following exactly in the movie. The shoot for the film will begin as soon as Dileep sir completes Siddique’s King Liar,” says Rajeev. Dileep plays a government pleader while Rajeev acts as his supporting character, a police officer who fights against injustice, in the movie.
Rajeev’s Bollywood debut through Kiran Phadnis’ Guru Dakshina had put him in the spotlight for the national audience and the exposure has brought him the blessings of lady luck. He was offered the role in The Legend after Jomon watched his performance in the Bollywood flick. “To have made a mark in Bollywood without a mentor is something I’m very proud of. Guru Dakshina also brought me another Bollywood project which is to be made under the banner of a major production house. I spend most of my time in Mumbai now because the discussions for this movie are going on there. The project will go on floors soon,” he adds.
