There are standard levels in which you go from point A to point B eliminating

Recently graduating from the mires of Early Access on Steam, Gunnheim is a surprising addition to the top down 2D shooter genre. The game is by no means perfect, far from it, but it is very enjoyable in bursts and particularly with friends.

Basically, you play as Norse characters that wield huge weapons and the primary objective is to mow down everything that crosses your path. What makes the game tremendously enjoyable is the variations in the levels. There are standard levels in which you go from point A to point B eliminating, then levels with copious amounts of obstacles in the forms of cliffs, spikes and spear traps and time based levels where you must reach the finish before a cloud of noxious gas engulfs you and the best of the lot, wave defense levels.

At end of every four levels there is a boss fight and these are genuinely hard if you’re trying to solo the game, and hence it is my solemn advice that you party up.
What is even more awesome is the plethora of weapons that one can pick up while going through levels. These range from shotguns to an immensely overpowered rail gun.

However, the game is only meant to be played in spurts. It gets repetitive after a while as there is only one character to choose from at the moment. Moreover, the game is still rife with bugs which range from poor hit detection to outright crashes. These are issues that could get fixed, however, that doesn’t detract from the really fun game that is Gunnheim.
