THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The approaching local polls have given a fresh lease of life to the ‘My City Beautiful City’ Campaign launched by the LDF-led ruling front at the City Corporation.
On Tuesday, as part of the launch of the fourth phase of the mega campaign, eleven more Corporation wards were granted with the coveted ‘Suchithwa’ status.
However, UDF councillors boycotted the event held at Gandhi Park. Health Minister and local MLA V.S. Sivakumar, who was scheduled to inaugurate, skipped the event.
Poetess and social activist Sugathakumari declared the Suchithwa wards and inaugurated the event in the presence of Thomas Issac MLA, Mayor K. Chandrika and other standing committee members. Vanchiyoor, Chakkai, Sasthamangalam, Thirumala, Vattiyoorkavu, Arannoor, Kalippankulam, Palkulangara, Pangode, Perunthanni and Kesavadasapuram are the eleven Suchitwa wards. Three of the eleven wards were UDF wards.
