Rs 997 crore for Technopark development

The state will have to bear 60 per cent of the project cost

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state Cabinet on Tuesday granted administrative sanction for granting Rs 997.65 crore for the development of Technopark for the next five years.

At the Cabinet briefing, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the amount would be utilised for developing infrastructure, land acquisition and marketing of phase 1, 2 and 3 of Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, Technocity and Kollam Technopark between 2015-16 and 2019-20.

The government would release Rs 69 core for the current financial year, Rs 285 crore in 2016-17, Rs 205 crore in 2017-18, Rs 211 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 208 crore in 2019-2020.

Ratio for fishing harbour: The Cabinet approved the 40:60 Centre-State ratio as revised by the Union government for the construction of fishing harbours and projects of National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). At present, the Centre’s share for fishing harbour construction is 75 per cent and 90per cent for NFDB projects. As per the new norms, the state will have to bear 60 per cent of the project cost.

Other decisions
Rs 25 crore sanctioned for land acquisition in connection with the Haripad Medical College. Rs 10 lakh alloted as solatium to the family of Thesni Basheer who died after being hit by a vehicle during the Onam celebrations on the College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram campus.

Rs 5 lakh will be given to the family of Dhanush Krishna who died of bullet shot during NCC training at West Hill, Kozhikode. His sister, Aparna, will be given a government job.

Honorarium of CDS accountants increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. Pay-revision anomalies of Oushadhi workers rectified.
