Mumbai: The cops received a tip-off from a police informer that he had information on the disappearance of the Sheena Bora, sister of Indrani Mukherjea, wife of high-profile broadcast media executive Peter Mukerjea in 2012.
He told the police that the driver was involved in the crime and also told them that the body had been dumped in the jungles of Raigad. The Raigad police confirmed the remains of an unidentified woman were found from the same spot.
Later, Ms Mukherjea was asked to come for questioning and after sustained questioning which went on for hours, she was placed under arrest. The duo has been booked under Sections 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping) and 201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
Sources said that the police is also trying to get in touch with other relatives of Indrani who they believe will throw some light on the relationship the two sisters shared. It is also not clear if there was a missing persons report or kidnapping complaint registered by her relatives after Sheena’s sudden disappearance.
A police team from Mumbai is also coordinating with the local police in Raigad to collect more information. Indrani married the former Star CEO back in 2002. This was both Peter and Indrani’s second marriage.
