Ex-cop kin held for chain-snatching
He was the grandson of an ex-additional DCP
Hyderabad: The Nallakunta police arrested two chain- snatchers, including the grandson of an ex-additional DCP. The second accused is the brother of a TV channel reporter. The duo, who are involved in five criminal cases, was caught by the police for the first time as they had managed to evade cops successfully so far.
P. Vedavyas, 23, a graduate from Ramanthapur, is the grandson of retired additional DCP Radha Krishna. The second accused G. Naresh, 22, is the brother of a regional TV channel reporter, police said.
The police officials recovered 80 grams gold from them after raiding their hide outs. Police said that they had sold the snatched gold. Inspector S. Santosh Kiran said the duo had targeted four women in Nallakunta, Amberpet and other parts of the city.
“They were also involved in a car burning case. Though cases were registered against them in different parts of the city they were not arrested,” said the inspector. Vedavyas is jobless. Naresh was doing petty jobs. Cops produced them before court and send them to judicial remand.
