119 youths held for roaming
Out of the 119 youths nabbed, 28 received imprisonment
Hyderabad: Three youths were booked under the Criminal Amendment Act 2013 for harassing minor girls and nearly 28 youths were awarded two days of imprisonment, during Operation Late Night Roam Yos conducted by the south zone police on Saturday and Sunday nights.
During the late-night operation on Saturday and Sunday, police caught 119 youths belonging to different parts of the old city for roaming on the road at night. Till now, the youths roaming on the roads were caught and allowed to go after counselling. Most of them are minors and they engage in public boozing, bike racing and eve-teasing.
“Even after conducting awareness and counselling some youths are moving around late in the night. Residents from Charminar, Tigalakunta, Talabkatta areas are frequently complaining to the police about this,” said south zone DCP V. Satyanarayana.
Out of the 119 youths nabbed, 28 received imprisonment and three youths from Chatrinaka area were booked under the Criminal Amendment Act 2013. The DCP also said that Operation Late Night Roam Yos will be conducted very strictly and warned youths moving around late in the night that they will be booked under the law.
