Turtle enclosure turns into wishing well after visitors plaster them with money

Superstitious visitors at Zhengzhou Zoo in Henan, central China, have started throwing currency notes and coins into a turtles’ enclosure in the hopes of being blessed with a long life, according to reports by People’s Daily Online.

After learning that the four Thai giant turtles at the zoo could live up to thousands of years, people started plastering currency notes on the backs of the confused reptiles. Coins of different values were also seen at the bottom of the shallow pond that housed the famous 'millennium magic turtles'.

The Chinese media have also reported that the staff at the zoo aren’t stopping people from throwing money into the enclosure even as they are watching over the turtles all the time.
