G Sudhakaran lashes out at VS Achuthanandan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state committee member G. Sudhakaran MLA on Monday lashed out at Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan for keeping off a function at a school in Paravur.
Though Achuthanandan had agreed to inaugurate development projects carried out with Sudhakaran’s MLA fund at the veteran leader's alma mater, Panekulangara Higher Secondary School, he backed out last week. Though the Opposition leader was at his house in Paravur, he didn't come for the function held just a stone's throw away.
Achuthanandan refuted Sudhakaran's charge saying he was not invited to the function. At the function, Sudhakaran vented his ire. “After EMS and AKG, I consider Achuthanandan as the top leader. But I am not prepared to propagate this. You won’t get me to visit his place every morning to spread falsehoods. I don’t have to massage his feet to get promotion. Even if he desires to promote, that may not happen,” Sudhakaran said.
The former minister said he could not help if Achuthanandan did not like him. “If he is not keen on me, what can I do? Should I resign from the party? Let him show his fondness to whomsoever he likes. But my liking and respect for him will always continue,” he added.
He said some want him defeated in the Assembly elections. “How can one defeat me if I am not contesting? It is not mandatory to contest the elections. But such issues are finalised by the party. If VS kept off the function for this purpose, then I wouldn't mind getting defeated.
“But let me remind (him) that the CPM has never lost in my ward. But the party lost by 200 votes in Achuthanandan's ward,” he added.
