Thiruvananthapuram: Days after a controversy triggered regarding the alleged conduct of Onam 'sadya' (feast) in an operation theater at the government Medical College Hospital here a nurse has been transferred and a doctor slapped with showcause notice.
The action had been taken pursuant to a probe ordered by state Health Minister V S Sivakumar into the incident. It triggered a controversy after TV channels aired purported footage of the onam festivities at the operation theater of the cardiology department at the hospital last week.
An order has been issued for transferring the head nurse, who was in charge of the theater, and a showcause notice issued to the head of the Anesthesia Department on the probe, a health department release said here today.
The probe was carried out by state Health Secretary K Elangovan, it said but did not divulge the findings.
Besides serving feast, a floral carpet was also laid in the operation theater to greet the staff, including doctors, as part of the Onam celebrations on August 22.
