BJP did not say ‘acche din’, it was social media: Union Minister Narendra Tomar

He later said that videos of his comments were being shown ‘selectively and that is not fair’

Indore: In another blooper for BJP, Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Bhartiya Janata Party had never promised "Acche Din (good days)," it all started on social media.

"The BJP never said acche din aayenge (good days will come). It came on social media that acche din will come and Rahul Gandhi will have to go and people attributed it to the BJP. We accept it in all humility but it was never our slogan," Tomar said.

However, the phrase was coined during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign for last year's general elections.

"Those who say ‘Acche Din’ have not come should be more positive and understand that good times have already arrived in the country," Tomar added.

The minister later went back on his statement saying videos of his comments were being shown "selectively and that is not fair."

"The BJP government and the Prime Minister are committed to ‘Acche Din’ and are making all efforts for continuous betterment, as I said earlier."
