Four men confronted victim in isolated place and assaulted her
NIZAMABAD: Four men allegedly gang-raped a woman near Nizamabad railway station late on Sunday night. According to sources, a recently-married couple had reached Nizamabad railway station by Krishna Express from Hyderabad midnight on Sunday.
The husband is a native of Bodhan while the wife is a resident of Hyderabad. From the station, they started walking on the railway tracks towards the bus stand to take a bus for Bodhan. Suddenly, four men confronted them in an isolated place between the railway station and the bus stand and threatened them with knives.
The men allegedly sexually assaulted the victim. They, however, fled when the couple raised an alarm and people from the railway station came to enquire. The couple lodged a complaint with the I Town police who shifted the woman to the Government General Hospital in Nizamabad for medical tests.
SP S. Chandrasekhar Reddy said that a case had been registered under the criminal law (Amendment) Act, 2013 (Nirbhaya). He said that two suspects had been taken into custody and action would be taken after the medical report came.
