Cancer survivor’s battle on film

Hyma Reddy talks about her disease that led her to make the film, Life Again

Promos of cancer survivor Hyma Reddy’s short film Life Again were released on Tuesday in Hyderabad. The short film tells the story, of her fighting the disease.

Hailing from a small village near Warangal, Hyma has done her Ph.D. and is now settled in Kuwait. She says, “I never thought that I would survive and see everyone. But Gautami madam came into my life; because of her I survived and fought cancer.”

Hyma is now an official yoga teacher for the Kuwait government. “I would like to create awareness and tell everyone that we can fight cancer without fear,” says Hyma, and that’s the reason she titled her film Life Again.

Apart from Gautami, Telangana Jagruthi founder and TRS MP Kavitha helped Hyma reclaim her life. Kavitha, who helps many people through her NGO, had met Hyma in Kuwait. There, Hyma agreed to teach yoga to Telugus who were working as labourers in Kuwait.

Later, Hyma told Kavitha her idea of a film on cancer, which would be based on her life. Inspired by the story, Kavitha helped her out. “It’s not a commercial film as we have made it to inspire people and create awareness. Not only cancer, we can fight any disease with our self confidence and guts,” says Hyma.
