The ‘hero’ is born again
This star and celebrity cricketer hopes to change his fortune with his comeback role in Tiger
Of his six films as hero, he has “died” five times onscreen! But he seems to have many lives and now actor Pradeep Bogadi, the star celebrity cricketer who rose to fame with Jolly Days makes a comeback as Tiger. The actor who got married soon after his release Rangan Style failed to impress at the box office, hopes to make a difference with his father-in-law’s debut home banner venture under the direction of Nanda Kishore, who delivered three back-to-back mega hits — Victory, Adyaksha and Kiccha starrer Ranna. Pradeep speaks about his comeback venture, his lucky charm (wife), cricket and much more.
“Since marriage, I have been getting offers for films with love stories and sad endings. I have so far died five times in my short acting career! It was only during the release of my previous films that a few fans came to me, imploring that they don’t want to see me die in the climax. That is it when I decided to do films with a different approach. I had heard 20 scripts. This is when my father-in-law expressed his wish to start a production house of his own,” says Pradeep.
The charming actor’s love story which ended on a happy note leading to marriage is quite a filmi one too. “I was promoting my film Jolly Days. As my producers asked me to reach college students, I visited Mount Carmel where I first met the love of my life, Inchara. She was in charge of the hospitality section of the programme. Ever since January 31, 2009, Inchara has been my great support, motivating me,” the actor adds.
The actor is popular offscreen thanks to his cricket connect with the CCL. He explains, “I dreamt of becoming a cricketer and even my father had great hopes, but it remained a dream. However, I feel lucky that playing for the celebrity cricket league helped me gain my popularity even though it never helped me in films, and I did not expect it too.”
His comeback project Tiger has already been dragged into controversies over the title and the actor clarifies that they revealed the title only after the authorities officially certified it.
Tiger is being directed by Nanda Kishore who directed Kiccha Sudeep in Ranna. “It was between the release of Victory and Adyaksha, the project was finalised. Again, the bond between me, Tarun and Nanda since our cricketing days helped us get together for Tiger. The two brothers are down-to-earth, sincere and hard working. They work on every detail before the shoot,” he adds.
While Pradeep might not die in Tiger, he hopes the complete change in narration and commercial packaging will help, “I feel that every actor should produce a home banner once to understand the importance of the film making process, the amount of energy and time put in.”
Pradeep acknowledges his wife Inchara who has been working around the clock and never tires from motivating him from staying on a diet and even helps manage the financial aspects despite no knowledge of film making!
