Lodha Committee’s office burgled: reports
New Delhi: The Lodha committee’s office at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi was burgled after thieves broke into the office and fled with money kept in a drawer. According to media reports, they may also have stolen some of documents collected by the panel in course of investigations into the IPL spot-fixing scam.
A case under section 380 IPC (burglary) has been registered at the local police station. Police are yet to determine the quantum of the loss and have asked the committee to conduct an internal enquiry.
The incident came to light last Wednesday when a guard noticed a broken lock. He informed senior officials, following which a case was registered. CCTV footage has been recovered. The Lodha committee, consisting of former Chief Justices of India viz. Justice RM Lodha (Chairman), Justice Ashok Bhan and Justice RV Raveendran, was constituted by the Supreme Court to probe into the allegations in the infamous IPL spot-fixing scam that broke out in 2013.
