Flood situation worsens in Assam, over 16 lakh people affected across the state
- The floods in Assam has been the worst in the past three years, affecting nearly 1600,000 people in 19 of the state's 27 districts, officials said.
- "Restoration of surface communication and repairing of breached embankments have also been accorded priorities," he added.
- The Chief Minister said the first priority of the government is providing relief to the flood-hit people and he has instructed the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts to leave no stone unturned to extend all possible help to the affected
- He also lauded the role of NDRF and SDRF personnel for their all out efforts in rescuing marooned people.
- After an aerial survey of more than two hours, the Chief Minister said the state government has stepped up rescue and relief operations in the state with all ministers and officials directed to visit the affected districts to monitor relief

- Roads and bridges were reported to be damaged by the flood waters in Morigaon, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Jorhat.

- The Brahmaputra was flowing above the danger mark at Dibrugarh town, Nematighat in Jorhat district, Tezpur in Sonitpur, Guwahati, Goalpara town and Dhubri town, ASDMA said.
- The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Morigaon district, home to the one horned rhinos in the world, has been completely inundated by the deluge forcing wild animals to move to safer high grounds, forest officials said.
- Army has been called by Dibrugarh administration for rescuing the marooned people and for relief operations.
- The affected districts are Dhemaji, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Sonitpur, Barpeta, Goalpara, Morigaon, Cachar, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Kamrup, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Golaghat and Nagaon.
- An Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) release said one person died in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia district each taking the toll in current phase of floods to 31.
