Telangana draws flak for Thotapalli

Opposition parties launched a scathing attack against the government

Karimnagar: For the first time, the TRS-government drew severe flak from different quarters of society for proposing redesign of Thotapalli balancing reservoir aimed at providing irrigation facilities to upland Husnabad Assembly constituency. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had to allay apprehensions of people by conducting a public meeting and assuring completion of Gouravelli and Gandipalli projects on August 8.

Unfazed by criticism of Opposition parties over redesign of many ongoing projects, Mr Rao inclined to reengineer the underconstruction balancing reservoir at Thotapalli of Husnabad mandal. He ordered irrigation authorities to conduct a survey and submit a report over the project.

According to feasibility report, the reservoir’s cost shot up manifold, suggesting the government to shelve it. Opposition parties launched a scathing attack against the government.
