Redesign of Thotapalli lands TRS in bad books
Karimnagar: DCC president K. Mruthyunjayam accused Mr Rao of plundering water resources of Karimnagar district on the pretext of redesign.
TRS-government drew severe flak from different quarters of society for the first time for proposing redesign of Thotapalli balancing reservoir aimed at providing irrigation facilities to upland Husnabad Assembly constituency. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had to allay apprehensions of people by conducting a public meeting and assuring completion of Gouravelli and Gandipalli projects on August 8.
Despite severe criticism from Opposition parties over redesign of many ongoing projects, Mr Rao decided to re-engineer the under-construction balancing reservoir at Thotapalli of Husnaband mandal. He ordered irrigation authorities to conduct a survey and submit a report over the project. According to feasibility report prepared by the authorities concerned, the reservoir’s cost has shot up manifold and it has suggested the government to shelve it.
This made Opposition parties launch a scathing attack against the government and Chief Minister. Not just Congress, but Telangana Telugu Desam, BJP and Left parties have launched a string of protests in the past few months.
