Modi, Kejriwal two sides of same coin: Congress on onion price hike

Congress demanded that both the state and central govts work together to control inflation

New Delhi: Staging a protest against the hike in onion's price, Congress on Monday accused both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being two sides of the same coin.

Alleging that both Modi and Kejriwal have misled the public by making false promises, workers of the women's wing of the Delhi Pradesh Congress staged the protest outside BJP headquarters here and demanded that both the state and the central governments work together to control inflation.

"Both Kejriwal and Modi are two sides of the same coin. While the Prime Minister had promised the country to control inflation, the AAP had promised Delhi voters that they will reduce the price hike.

"We have now onions selling at Rs 100 per kg. Where are those promises now?" All India Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza said.

She further alleged that fair price shops introduced by the AAP government were working just for "namesake".

"Both Centre and Delhi government are responsible for price hike. Both Kejriwal and Modi have spent crores of rupees for showcasing themselves but they could not do anything to control price of a basic commodity," Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress chief Onika Mehrotra said.

The price of onions today rose up to Rs 80 in the national capital.
