BJP opposes stalling Kanthanapally project in Warangal
Warangal: The district BJP is not happy with the way the TRS government is handling the irrigation projects in the state. They are strongly opposing Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s idea to redesign the projects. Former MLA and BJP senior leader M. Dharma Rao said the decision to stall the work of Kanthanapally project was most unfortunate. The project was aimed at augmenting Devadula besides irrigating more land in Warangal and others districts. The decisions of the government are doing more harm than good to the state. He criticised the CM for taking decisions on his own dismissing the ideas of the engineers. Also the way the CM is playing around with the idea of constructing a barrage across Godavari near Devadula project at the cost of Kanthanapally.
“Just because the contractor who took up the project belongs to Andhra, the government decided to stop it. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao promised to have ladder-style barrages on the river discarding the Kanthanapally project, which is under construction. There is no coordination betw-een the CM and irrigation minister T. Harish Rao. Both give contradicting statements on the same issue,” said Mr Rao.
