BENGALURU: The officials of the Special Investigation Team probing the Lokayukta corruption case have arrested Hotte Krishna, who was a close aide of V Bhaskar alias 420 Bhaskar, the another accused in the case. With the arrest of Krishna, the number of arrests made by the SIT in the scam has gone up to 11. Krishna had gone absconding after the SIT officials started the probe.
Police said that Krishna was allegedly trying to flee to Sri Lanka and they received information that he was going to Chennai International Airport on Saturday night. The police swung into action and arrested Krishna in the airport on Saturday night. He was brought to the city on Sunday morning and was taken to Bowring Hospital for medical check up.
Later, he was produced before the Lokayukta Special Court Judge V.G. Bopaiah, at his residence. The police requested the judge to remand him to police custody as he was very close to accused Bhaskar and knew some important information about the syndicate that run the extortion racket. The judge then remanded him to police custody till August 29.
It is said that Krishna used to get information about BDA officials through RTI and had an active role in the extortion syndicate. The accused arrested in the case earlier had revealed to the SIT about Krishna’s involvement in the racket.
