Srinivas’ elevation raises development hope

Srinivas as chief adviser to the state will concentrate on inter-state relations

Nizamabad: People are hopeful that elevation of senior leader D. Srinivas as chief adviser to the state government will boost development of Nizamabad district in near future. After a gap of six years, he has bagged an official status in the state.

Followers of Mr Srinivas are confident that he would concentrate simultaneously on Nizamabad urban and Nizamabad rural Assembly constituencies in the district. He belongs to Velpur of Armoor Assembly constituency, but he built up his political base in Nizamabad constituency.

Mr Srinivas had worked as minister in Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy Cabinet till 2009. In view of his continuous debacle in 2009, 2010 and 2014 Assembly elections, Mr Srinivas missed the chance of public office. His followers expected that he would have a play key role in state politics with a Cabinet rank, but it turned out all in vain.

In this context, unexpectedly Srinivas joined in ruling TRS party and got Cabinet rank post of advisor. He will concentrate on inter-state relations and focus on development of his native district. Prior to joining TRS, Srinivas said that incomplete works in Nizamabad urban constituency will be his priority in future. With the help of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he will focus on developmental works in the constituency.

S. Venugopal, resident of Shivajinagar in Nizamabad, said that people of Nizamabad are eagerly waiting for Srinivas to take initiatives for city development. “Due to various reasons, development of Nizamabad got badly affected for last two decades,” he said. If Srinivas concentrates on developmental works, he can restore past glory of the city, he opined.

On the other hand, TRS leaders are keenly observing actions and activities of Mr Srinivas in Nizamabad district. It is high time to coordinate with MP K. Kavita, TRS legislators B. Ganesh Gupta and Bajireddy Govardhan in the district.
