Pesticide in liquor bottle kills 2 in Ongole
Ongole: In a tragic incident, two farmers who consumed pesticide that was filled in a liquor bottle died while another farmer was left battling for his life at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Ongole city on Saturday.
According to Darsi inspector K.V. Raghavulu, Kakani Veeranna, 45, Kayani Ramulu, 55, and K. Chiranjeevi found the bottle while working in sugarcane fields in Nagabhatlapalem under Tallur mandal.
They assumed that the bottled contained liquor due to the label. Soon after consuming the liquid, the three farmers lost consciousness. They were noticed by other farmers and rushed to the RIMS in Ongole for treatment. The doctors there declared Raghavulu and Veeranna “brought dead”.
The victims hailed from Velivennu village under Undrajavaram mandal of West Godavari district. Policed officials sent a team to the spot. A case has been registered investigation is on. The victims found the bottle while working in sugarcane fields in Nagabhatlapalem under Tallur mandal. Soon after consuming the liquid, the three farmers lost consciousness.
