Man attempts suicide over special status

Vijayawada: A man attempted suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his home in Vijayawada on Saturday, over the delay in AP being granted special status.

Earlier, one Muni Koti Reddy had immolated himself over denial of special status, at a Congress meeting in Tirupati on August 9. Chavali Subbarao, a father of two, was found hanging by his family who brought him down and rushed him to a hospital in Pamarru.

Subbarao was later shifted to a private hospital in Vijayawada for better treatment. The news sent shockwaves in the city, prompting the CM to visit Subbarao in the hospital.
