Indian missing in Iraq's Mosul for a year, claims family
Kolkata: An Indian national, hailing from West Bengal and working as a labourer in Iraq's Mosul district, has been missing for the last one year, his family has claimed.
The family has been running from pillar to post to get Khokan Sikdar back from Iraq, but all efforts have proved futile as they have failed to establish any contact. According to Sikdar's wife Namita, Khokhan got a job in a construction site through an employment agency in Iraq's Mosul in 2011.
"He got his job in 2011 and after that he went to Iraq to work in a construction site in Iraq's Mosul district. He was in regular touch till June, 2014. But after a few days he told us that they had been held captive by terror groups and since then there was no contact," Namita said.
"We appeal to the state and the central government to look into the case as early as possible and bring back my husband. I will write to PM, CM and to the MEA to look into the case," Namita said.
Namita said that a few months back officials had come to his home and taken a photograph of her husband but after that there had been no progress.
