Grama Jyothi: Mantris prefer native villages
Adilabad: A majority of elected public representatives such as MLAs, ministers and Zilla Parishad chairman and some top district officials have bypassed the backward and interior villages when they were adopted villages under Grama Jyothi. Some political leaders took the opportunity provided by the Grama Jyothi to develop their native villages.
Some of the elected public representatives adopted their native villages. They do not want to take risk of adopting the interior and backward villages with the fear that people will them if they failed to develop the villages and will have negative impact on their future. MLAs and top officials selected villages with good road connectivity in view of time constraints.
Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy adopted his already developed native village Yellapalli. Chennur MLA Nallala Odelu adopted major Gram Panchayat Kyathan-palli which was well connected to Mancherial town and on the main road where real estate boom was prevalent as it was close to Mancherial town which was expanding towards Kyathanpalli.
The valuable land comes under Kyathanpalli Gram Panchayts in Mandamarri mandal. Mancherial MLA N. Diwakar Rao adopted Luxettipet town which was one of the major towns in the districts. Boath MLA Rathod Bapurao adopted Talama-dugu village which was the mandal headquarters. Zilla Parishad chairperson V. Shobarani adopted her native village Kadthal in Nirmal mandal. Minister Jogu Ramanna adopted Yapalguda village in Adilabad mandal bypassing his native village Deepaiguda in Jainad mandal.
He was critical at the villagers of his native village Deepaiguda for not constructing individual sanitary latrines despite his personal appeal. However, Jogu Ramanna too chose a village for adoption which was by the roadside and achieved some development.
Collector Jagan Mohan adopted Ankoli village in Adilabad mandal which was just three km away from collector’s camp office. Even the villages adopted by some top police officials also had good road connectivity and not far away from the district headquarters.
Beerkurwar Venkatesh of Adilabad town wondered why the MLAs and ministers cannot adopt the interior villages so that at least such villages get road connectivity and basic amenities with visits by the MLAs and ministers who adopted those villages. He observed that majority of the MLAs adopted comparatively well developed villages.
