THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress Working Committee member A K Antony on Saturday said that certain forces are trying to create communal strife in the state.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held in connection with the 125 birth anniversary celebrations of Jawahar Lal Nehru.
"Situation had come to such a pass that even a spark is enough to ignite passions. Considering the prevailing social conditions in the state it is easy for anyone to pit people against each other,” he warned.
The veteran Congress leader called for steps to strengthen communal harmony in the state. Earlier at the function he said that ban on bars had led to increase in consumption of drugs in the state.
Use of ganja and other drug substances were increasing with even children becoming target of this menace, he added.
