Barack Obama’s gym errors!
US President Barack Obama’s workout routine has been finally declassified but several experts have pointed out holes in the gym exercises, and techniques, being prescribed for the world’s most powerful man. Here are a few mistakes:
Wearing of headphones
It can affect the breathing rhythm. Due to the music, the person is less aware of his surroundings so, if there’s imbalance or wrong moves on a machine the body’s response is delayed severely.
Wearing long pants
There’s a common misconception that more clothing cover means better sweating and higher calorie burn. But what actually happens is people sweat a lot, causing dehydration, which affects performance and causes extra stress.. When the body is stressed it releases stress hormones which actually inhibit fat burning. Compression clothing is sometimes worn and research suggests they help with blood supply, removal of lactic acid and minimise trauma to muscles, explains Narendra Reddy, senior physiotherapist at Apollo Hospitals.
Do not do curls
After doing lateral dumbbells and seated overhead dumbbells it is not correct to do curls. Mr Reddy explains: “By doing curls, the effect of dumbbells is neutralised.”
Compound exercises are those which utilise the multiple joints with free weights. When compound exercises are done the muscles become harder. Dr Reddy says, “It has to be done under the supervision of a trainer only. This is because there is maximum muscle and high activation of the nervous system. There is also a stimulus for growth. As this happens at a very fast pace, it requires a proper trainer to for supervision.
“Also, compound exercises are a must for those who seriously into weight lifting and professional body builders. For those who want to gain strength or stamina isolation exercises are recommended.”
