Garnering accolades on small screen

Pavani speaks about her on-screen chemistry with newbie Ashwin

Actress Pavani Reddy, who has been part of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films, has now made a foray into the small screen through a serial Rettaival Kuruvi, which is being aired on a popular entertainment channel. She speaks about the transition to small screen and her on-screen chemistry with newbie Ashwin.

The petite actress says that though she had donned the greasepaint for films in different languages, she was quite apprehensive about doing a soap. “I had my share of inhibitions initially because of the language factor, as I hail from Karnataka. But to my luck, things went smooth from day one and I’m now having a whale of time,” says Pavani.

Despite having a few film offers, it was the uniqueness of the script which made Pavani give a nod to the serial.

She tells, “I took up this offer as I found the script refreshing. The story of a couple who had to give up their love life due to ego clashes and then eventually realise their mistakes was intriguing. Debutant Ashwin is my co-star in the serial, and unlike many newbies, he was cool and has an urge to learn something every day. I think that has helped him gradually improve and it is fun working with him.”

Pavani is excited over the response she has been receiving for her character in the serial, which has completed over 40 episodes and says that she is game for taking up more soaps if she finds interesting scripts. “I don’t differentiate between films and serials. What matters is a convincing script and doing justice to my character. For now, my concentration is on acting and I don’t have any plans to get hitched to someone and vanish from the field someday like, many others,” Pavani signs off.
