OnePlus 2 OS update rolled out for major bug fix and enhancements
The OnePlus 2 was launched last month and is now getting its major bug fixed via an OTA update. The OnePlus 2 was reportedly having an issue with the operating system where users were noticing a bug in the Google Photos gallery app. Once you clicked a photo, previewing the picture was a paid. One cannot zoom in or use the pinch to zoom feature to view the photo on the device. Another issue reported with the operating system was instability in certain apps when using the dark mode feature. Lastly, certain reports also mentioned importing and exporting of contacts stored on the SIM card. These issues have been fixed with a new over-the-air update that OnePlus rolled out a few days ago.
Check out the video below, which reveals the bug in the Google Photos app. If you face a similar issue with your phone, make sure you update the device at the earliest.
The update is not a small patch and is a shopping 1GB in size. So if you own a OnePlus 2, make sure you apply the new updated operating system to the device. Also make sure you are using an unlimited high-speed internet connection via the wireless router, since the update can blow a hole into your wallet with a huge 3G/4G data bill. Sadly, OnePlus does not have a feature or PC suite application where one can download the update and apply it to the device from the PC. A PC download and a PC suite for the update would have been beneficial since you could easily share the update with others (once downloaded) and also store it for later use.
We updated our device to confirm that the issue been resolved, but though it has been fixed, the camera app still does not integrate properly with the Photos app. OnePlus should supply a native gallery app with the camera and eliminate the need for Google Photos for previewing the images. When using the camera and heading to preview the image, the photo shows up on the screen. However, zooming is still not allowed at this stage and it is a static image. You have to tap it once to open it in Google photos, and then go ahead to zoom in. OnePlus needs to do something about this. In the meanwhile, you can use Google Camera as a third-party replacement for the stock camera.
