Rs 22 lakh collected in 2 days from road tax defaulters
This special drive will continue for a month
Hyderabad: Over the past few days, the RTA officials have been collecting between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh every day from “defaulter vehicles” for non-payment of road tax. This special drive will continue for a month.
A large number of commercial vehicles have been plying on the city roads without the relevant road tax payment documents, and over the past few days, such vehicles are being rounded up.
On August 18, the total number of cases booked stood at 60, while another 58 cases were booked on Thursday. The fine collected over these two days alone amounted to Rs 22 lakh, the highest so far. “This special drive began on August 17, and it will continue for one month,” said T. Raghunath, the joint transport commissioner of Hyderabad.
