Defaulter thrown out of party zone
Usha Constructions Agency, handling NTR Gardens’ party zone, had not paid dues of Rs 50 lakh
Hyderabad: NTR Gardens’ party zone lease holder, Usha Constructions Agency, was shown the door by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for non-payment of monthly fees.
NTR Gardens’ party zone was leased out in 2013 for three years at Rs 9.80 lakh per month. After the outstanding amount crossed Rs 50 lakh, the HMDA terminated the lease agreement.
Currently, the party zone is under the control of the Buddha Purnima Project wing of the HMDA. The lawn is among the most sought-after party zones in the city and Usha Constructions was the first agency it was leased out to.
“The lease agreement permitted Usha Constructions Agency to rent out the place for a maximum charge of Rs 35,000 per day. The agency had tied up with other smaller agencies for catering, sound system and even décor, which made arrangements easy for occasions. Initially, the demand was high and the place was booked throughout the month.
The corporation had no issues with the operations or maintenance, but despite several notices, over Rs 50 lakh was pending for months. The HMDA finally terminated the lease and took control of the zone,” said a source.
The party zone is currently under the control of HMDA and is being given out on rent for Rs 30,000 per day, from 2.30 pm to midnight. The corporation does not allow DJ set ups at the venue. Also, the rent is exclusive of all other arrangements like electricity, crockery and seating arrangements.
An official said, “The corporation has called for tenders to lease out the venue again. The selected agency will handle the operations and management for three years from the date of appointment. Monthly licence fee will be charged.”
