Cops seek CBI probe in promotion
The judge granted four-week time to all the respondents to file their counter affidavits
Hyderabad: Justice R. Kantha Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday issued notices to AP and TS governments and the Centre on a petition by a group of additional SP and DSP rank officers challenging the method adopted by the authorities in promotions of circle inspectors, DSP and additional SPs.
The judge directed the authorities to review the GO Ms.No.108, issued on Feb. 22, 2014, based on the letter of AP DGP. A.R. Damodar and 24 others moved court challenging the action of the authorities in not reviewing a GO issued in 2014 with regard to promotions despite noticing various irregularities that took place while issuing the GO.
P.V. Krishnaiah, counsel for the petitioners told the court that the authorities grossly erred in preparing the seniority list of direct recruit DSPs and rank promotees and the authorities had even given promotions to officers who are no more.
He said that the authorities had given a wrong interpretation to an order of the SC with regard to the promotions of the police officers. He urged the court to order a probe either through CBI or by an independent agency. The judge granted four-week time to all the respondents to file their counter affidavits.
PIL against housing scheme:
Forum for Good Governance, an NGO based in the city on Friday moved the Hyderabad High Court questioning the decision of the Telangana government in sanctioning houses to the poor under the two-bedroom housing scheme even before completion of the unfinished houses under other housing schemes including ‘Indiramma Houses.’
The NGO moved a PIL stating that Rs 1,128 crore was already spent on the unfinished houses under various schemes. It urged the court to direct the state to first finish construction of the unfinished houses before embarking on a new housing scheme.
Plea to stop excavation:
A PIL has been moved before the Hyderabad High Court by Kundurthi Guravachary, resident of Piduguralla village of Guntur district seeking a CBI probe into alleged illegal excavation of white limestone mineral from the government lands at Konanki village of the district by TD MLA Yarapatineni Srinivasa Rao of Gurazala constituency and others.
He alleged that the authorities have failed to take action to stop illegal mining and transportation of white limestone by the local MLA.
