BJP MP to insure 11,000 women in Rajasthan on Rakshabandhan
Jaipur: A BJP MP will bestow a gift of insurance, under the government's social security scheme, to 11,000 girls and women of his constituency on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.
"I took the decision to gift insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh under PM Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY) to 11,000 girls and women in my constituency on Rakshabandhan. This will provide them social security," Pali MP PP Chaudhary told PTI.
This will offer them financial protection against death or disability due to accidents, said the MP who will pay premium of the scheme for 11,000 women.
There are a majority of people, including women, in rural areas in his constituency who are not covered under any kind of insurance, he said. For such people, PM introduced the insurance and other social security schemes which should reach out to the maximum people, he said.
"To promote the scheme and my initiative, I have launched voice messages and released a number and we are trying to contact eligible women and girls for this," he said.
The PMSBY cover provides death benefits up to Rs. 2 lakh. The amount assured will be Rs. 2 lakh in case of total and irrecoverable loss of both eyes or loss of use of both hands or feet, or loss of sight of one eye and loss of use of hand or foot. In case of total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye or loss of use of one hand or foot, the sum assured will be Rs. 1 lakh.
PMSBY entails an annual premium of Rs 12 and to avail the scheme, one should be in the age group of 16-70 and should have a savings bank account.
