Hyderabad: A car driver, working for a Hyderabad-based film distributor, fled with Rs 21 lakh and a car belonging to the distributor on Thursday night. Vasudeva Rao Chowdary, a film distributor, had gone to NTR Arts Production office in Banjara Hills, to discuss the distribution rights of the movie Kick 2. Mr Chowdary had left the money in his car with the driver and had gone into the office. Police identified the driver as one Saikumar.
Police said Mr Chowdary is the distributor for Guntur. Saikumar hails from Suchitra and was working for Mr Chowdary since eight months. On Thursday, at around 9 pm, Mr Chowdary and Saikumar came to the NTR Arts Production office on Road No. 2. He also carried Rs 21 lakh with him to pay for distribution rights.
“Mr Chowdary left the money in the car and went into the office to discuss distribution rights. He told Saikumar to stay back in the car and look after the money. But, when he returned after the discussions at around 10.30 pm the money, the car and the driver were missing,” said Banjara Hills inspector C. Murali Krishna.
