BIG C outlet manager behind shooting: Cops

Two firearms were procured from Karnataka

Hyderabad: Two firearms procured from Karnataka and motorcycles from Hyderabad were used by the gang of robbers who fired one round during a scuffle with the police on Thursday at Jubilee Hills.

The accused came to Hyderabad by road in a car on August 17 and put up in a house in Toli Chowki where they hatched the plan to rob the cash pickup agent of a BIG C Mobile outlet. Cops seized two country-made firearms and nine rounds of live ammunition from their possession.

Mohammed Samiuddin, the manager of BIG C outlet at Madhapur had hatched the plan with his friends Mirza Mohammad Abdullah Baig and Abdul Khadeer, both natives of Gulbarga. Baig had come to Hyderabad seven years ago and befriended Samiuddin.

Around seven days ago, Samiuddin contacted Baig and informed him about the movements of a cash pickup agent, who regularly travelled with huge sums of money. Baig contacted his friends Khadeer and Gabbu and made a team. As per their plan, the conducted a recce at the BIG C outlet in Madhapur, of which Samiuddin was the manager.

Meanwhile, Task Force Police received information that Baig was planning to rob a businessman in Jubilee Hills. On Thursday, they noticed Baig riding pillion on a motorcycle ridden by Khadeer. They were going from Madhapur to Ameerpet. Task Force Police formed five teams and followed them.

“When they stopped at the traffic junction near Neerus Showroom on Road No. 36, one inspector dashed his motorcycle into the theirs and Baig fell. The cop overpowered Khadeer and nabbed him, while Baig tried to flee. When cops chased him, he fired,” said police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy.
