The stage is set

From being a banker to flaunting her crown at beauty pageants and to now making her silver screen debut, Gayathri Suresh has come a long way

She has gone from a banker to a stylish beauty pageant winner with titles like Miss Kerala, Miss Beautiful Skin and Miss Photogenic to an actress playing the lovable girl next door. Gayathri Suresh will complete this transition phase of hers that has been happening to her at astonishing speed with the release of her debut film, the Thomas K Sebastian movie, Jamna Pyari, next week.

“When everyone in my bank came to know of my interest in pageants and modelling and about the Miss Kerala beauty contest, all of them urged me to take it up and follow my passion.”

“They didn’t even think twice before granting me leave and offered me full support. This is how I went into the field of pageants and later found the opportunity for an acting debut from there. The journey has been nothing short of stellar,” says Gayathri, who is working with the South Indian Bank.

Referring to her debut role she says, “I play a lovable girl-next-door with a Thrissur accent. She is an MBA student called Parvathy who cares about her family and is supporting her family through financial concerns. She is bold and sweet. Since, I myself am from Thrissur, including that accent into the acting process has been fun and easy. Now I’m excited to see how the people in my hometown react to it.”

Though it was her first acting experience, Gayathri says she went into the shoot confident that it would be easy. However, her perceptions soon changed.

“Acting was my passion. But I had no idea about the process of shooting and that acting was so difficult. When the shoot started I gave my first shot with ease and was done with it quickly. But as time went by and the shooting progressed, I began realising the difficulties one by one. I’m scared to death of close up shots now! I also learned about the shooting process, how different angles are captured and about acting in depth,” she adds.
