Hyderabad: Air conditioning major Blue Star is planning to invest Rs 150 crore to set up a new manufacturing facility in South India, in the two Telugu states. Blue Star executive director and president (AC & R product business) B. Thiagarajan said, “South India constitutes 55 per cent of our total sales and having a facility here would help us cut logistics costs from 6 per cent currently to 4 per cent.”
An announcement is likely by the air conditioning major in October on where the facility would come up and details would be out be November. It had earlier identified Sri City, at the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, for its manufacturing plant but bifurcation, bad economic conditions in the country and no special status to Andhra Pradesh forced the company to take a back seat.
