Calicut University demands refund from Kannur University researcher
KOZHIKODE: The Calicut University (CU) sends a series of letters to a PhD scholar, who did her research at Kannur University, asking why she delayed her thesis submission.
Baby Pushpalatha A. receives letters from the CU College Development Council director to furnish details in a week.
A teacher in the Hindi department of Keyi Sahib Training College, Taliparamba, she had never visited the CU for any purpose related to her research.
The letter says the local fund audit department has pointed out that a large number of govt/aided college teachers failed to submit their thesis within the stipulated period.
They are liable to forfeit expenses on the teaching faculty if their explanation was not satisfactory.
“I have already received many letters in this regard,” she said. “Another teacher receives similar letters even after he received his doctorate”.
CU assistant registrar Geetha M. P., who undersigned the letter, said the teacher’s name is on the list of over hundred teachers who failed to submit the thesis in time.
“It could be a technical fault, but we can only delete her name once she sends us a reply explaining her stand,” she said.
