Gold futures up by Rs 174 on firm global cues
New Delhi: Gold prices rose Rs 174 to Rs 26,370 per 10 grams in futures trading today as speculators widened positions amid a firming trend overseas. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month October rose Rs 174, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 26,370 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 810 lots. Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 172, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 26.577 per 10 grams in 36 lots.
Marketmen said a firming trend in the global markets where gold advanced the most in three months as prospects dimmed for a US interest rate increase in September, boosting the metal’s allure, influenced gold futures here. Globally, gold traded higher at USD 1,134.20 an ounce in Singapore today after surging 1.5 per cent to USD 1,133.88 yesterday, its biggest increase since May 13.
