Xiaomi launches new operating system MIUI 7 in India
New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on August 19 launched upgraded version of Android-based operating system MIUI 7 in India.
"MIUI is a deeply optimised user interface that allows for extensive customisation. Xiaomi has refined MIUI over the past year to create MIUI 7, which has a colourful interface with better performance, battery-saving optimisations and an even wider variety of personalisation options," Xiaomi said in a statement.
Commenting on the launch, Xiaomi Global VP Hugo Barra said: "MIUI 7 is a fresh new take on our immensely popular operating system, well-loved by over 150 million users. With so many exciting new enhancements, you will be able to feel the difference the moment you power on your phone running MIUI 7."
MIUI 7 will be available in beta on August 24th for all Xiaomi smartphones sold in India. The new operating system also offers some 'Made for India' features including Visual IVR, to reduce the time required to navigate automated voice menus when you call a customer service hotline, Smart SMS Filter, which filters service messages into a separate notification tab, resulting in a clutter-free inbox.
