And they said ‘I do’: Dinesh Karthik ties the knot with Dipika Pallikal

Chennai: Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik tied the knot with his lady love, ace Indian squash player Dipika Pallikal on Tuesday evening in a Christian ceremony in Chennai. The occasion was very much a closed-door event with close friends and family of the bride and groom taking part.

The cricketer-squash player couple will be getting married again in a Telugu-Naidu style wedding on August 20.

Pallikal has been engaged to Karthik since November 15, 2013. She met DK after he was divorced from his first wife and childhood friend Nikita, the latter who is now wife of India Test opener Murali Vijay.

Both DK and Pallikal share a very strong bond and it was reported earlier that the Royal Challengers Bangalore player, who made his debut in the Indian cricket team in 2004, supported Dipika in all her decisions and stood by her when she threatened to pull out of the Asian Games last year as she was not happy with the draw.

He was also there to celebrate her winning the gold medal in the doubles event at the Commonwealth Games.

Various reports sugest Dipika hosted a private bachelorette party over the weekend. It was an all-girls bash, and only 15 of her very close friends were invited. Sources at the occasion say the colour code for the party was pink, as it is Dipika's favourite colour.

The wedding dress Dipika will wear is from the US. She will be wearing the exquisite collection for both the Christian as well as the Hindu wedding ceremonies.
