RMSA to train school toppers for competitive exams
Later the scheme will be extended to 2,010 students, a senior RMSA official said
Chennai: It will no longer be a surprise if students from government schools in Tamil Nadu top national level competitive examinations. The state school education department through the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) state directorate has embarked on a mission to train first three rankers of class X and class XII from each government school in the state for these competitive tests.
The RMSA directorate has come up with a new project “TAN Excel” under the quality intervention programme to identify the first three class X and XII school toppers in government schools to train and facilitate their participation in national level competitive tests. “Initially we plan to target 100 government high and higher secondary schools benefiting 300 students this year. Later the scheme will be extended to 2,010 students,” a senior RMSA official said.
Students will be trained for various Olympiads, National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) and National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) with special training kits and study materials, he said.
