Hyderabad High Court: Registrar summoned in contempt case
The judge directed the authorities to conduct an inquiry and pass appropriate order
Hyderabad: Justice P. Naveen Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Monday ordered a joint sub-registrar of the Stamps and Registration department of Ranga Reddy district to appear before the court for every adjournment in a contempt case.
The judge was dealing with a contempt case by Mr G. Rama Avataram, representing Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Employees’ Cooperative Housing Society, complaining willful violation of the court order by the authorities and thereby causing loss and distress to over 805 families.
Earlier, the society had moved the court, challenging the action of the authorities in allowing double registrations on the land belonging to the society.
The court had ordered the district collector to conduct an independent inquiry on the allegations and the collector, in his report, had stated that multiple registrations had taken place on the land, that was bought by the society. After 1981-82, several documents were registered on the same land.
The collector also stated that there had been a clear violation of procedure and the registration department failed to follow provisions of the Registr-ation and Stamps Act.
Based on the report, the judge directed the authorities to conduct an inquiry and pass appropriate orders. As the authorities failed to implement the orders, the petitioner society moved the contempt case. The matter was adjourned to September 3.
