Puducherry boys bag place in IT quiz finals

Chennai: J. Jayakrishna and Venkata Sai Adarsh Kone, who hail from Puducherry, will be representing Chennai at the national finals of TCS IT wiz contest in Mumbai. They clinched the contest after answering the question on emerald sea. It was for the first time in the history of TCS IT wiz contest, a school from Puducherry won the contest. Tata Consultancy Services’ quiz contest to build awareness on IT skills among students was held at Music Acade-my on Tuesday.
Over 1,280 students from schools in the city and St. Patrick School from Puducherry participated. Six schools, including St. Patrick School, were chosen for finals. J. Jaykrishna and Venkat Sai Adarsh of St. Patrick School said they went through company websites and social media to get in touch with various quizmasters.
They clinched the contest after they answered to a question on curious case of emerald sea was asked. The emerald sea question was one of the questions asked during the launch of Google plus in 2011.
Contestants knew most answers, much to the surprise of the organisers. Every question thrown up by the Quiz master Giri Balasaubramaniam, popularly known as ‘Pickbrain’, were answered in a flick of a second. Chennai was the best among all metro cities, Giri said. “The passion for quiz is very high in Chennai,” he said.
There were five rounds – Computing everywhere, context rich system, invisible analytics, internet of things and @TCS. Questions on recent app developers, famous tweets, specific questions on TCS were asked.
