3 killed, 30 injured in different accidents in Perambalur

The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle near a petrol bunk and fled, police said
Perambalur: Three persons, including a couple, were killed and 30 others injured in three different road accidents in Perambalur and Pudukkottai districts on Tuesday. Police said, Selvaraj (52) and his wife Vijaya (51) of Chencherry village in Perambalur district were on their way to Perambalur on a two-wheeler. They were knocked down by a speeding tanker.
The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle near a petrol bunk and fled, police said.
The victims’ bodies were sent to Government headquarters hospital Perambalur for post mortem.
In an another accident, 30 students of a private school were injured when a school bus in which they were travelling to their school was hit by a lorry at the Sengunam section road on the Tiruchy -Chennai national highway near Perambalur on Tuesday.
Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured students to Government head quarters hospital Perambalur.
In the third accident, one person on a two-wheeler was fatally run over by a private school bus near Veerapatti village under Annavasal police limits in Pudukkottai district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as N. Kumar alias Kumarasamy of Veerapatti who was on his way to distribute the invitation card for his cousin’s wedding when the accident occurred. Police are investigating.
