Karnataka Lokayukta corruption case: SIT arrests eighth accused
BENGALURU: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Lokayukta corruption case has arrested the eighth accused in the case. The arrest has been made in connection with the complaint filed by KPCC Member and industrialist P.N. Krishnamurthy. The accused has been identified as Rajashekhar, who is said to be a close aide of V Bhaskar alias 420 Bhaskar.
Rajashekhar was arrested from Tiptur in Tumakuru district on Monday night around 10 pm. He was later brought to the city and taken to a hospital for medical check. He was produced before the Lokayukta Special Court at 4 pm on Tuesday. Judge V.G. Bopaiah remanded him to police custody till August 26.
BJP signature campaign
A day after the government issued notification regarding the Act, enabling the removal of Lokayukta, the State BJP has started a signature campaign demanding ouster of Justice Bhaskar Rao. Launching the campaign, four BJP MLAs and four MLCs signed the memorandum.
Riyaz moves HC for bail
After the Lokayukta court rejected his bail application, the suspended Lokayukta PRO Syed Riyaz moved the high court seeking bail. The court, while hearing his pleas, directed the respondents to file objections to it.
