Super bike involved in accident recommended only for professionals
The Kawasaki Ninja Zx14r super bike which was involved in an accident killing a 30-year-old man on a bicycle is one of the most powerful super bikes in production and is not recommended for city roads. According to super bike enthusiasts, a bike that powerful is recommended only for professionals and definitely not for school children.
Sabyasachi Biswas, co-founder of the Madras Motorcycles, a media company that reviews bikes, said, “The bike’s (Ninja Zx14r) power to weight ratio is higher than that of super cars and only those who have prior experience in handling super bikes can ride the bike.”
Though such bikes come with safety options such as traction control, traffic on the city roads restricts control even if the rider’s reactions are razor sharp, Mr Sabyasachi said. Furthermore, only a handful of people own the bike in the country and the number is less than five in the city.
Biker clubs too do not allow minors to be part of their group. “Usually biker clubs do not allow minors to be part of the club even if they are enthusiastic. Teenagers might feel physically strong enough to ride the bike but it takes maturity, training and practice to become a good and more importantly a safe rider,” Prakash Nagaraj of the Roaring Riders Club told DC adding, “Most importantly, they should be properly attired with essential safety suitable for riding a super bike of that caliber.”
