Jayalalithaa announces relief of Rs 50,000 to cops hurt in riots
Eleven people including 8 police and 3 revenue staff have suffered grievous injuries and are being treated
Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Monday announced relief of Rs 50,000 for the police and revenue personnel injured in the clash that broke out in Seshasmudram village in Villupuram.
The AIADMK leader said in a statement that she was pained to know that the local police and the revenue officials involved in controlling the clash and taking steps to restore normalcy were injured in the melee. Eleven people including 8 police and 3 revenue staff have suffered grievous injuries and are being treated.
To all those government staff injured in the Villupuram incident a sum of Rs 50,000 will be dispatched from the Chief Minister’s relief fund, the statement said. Ms Jayalalithaa also condoled the death of Velappa Gounder, a relative of state industries minister P. Thangamani.
