Cash-for-vote scam: Chandrababu Naidu's name crops up 22 times

Chargesheet depends heavily on the statements of the complainant, MLA Elvis Stephenson

Hyderabad: The name of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu crops up at least 22 times in the cash-for-vote scam chargesheet filed by the Telangana State Anti-Corruption Bureau in the special court for ACB cases even as the agency tried to establish that the accused acted on his directions.

The chargesheet has been filed against TD legislator A. Revanth Reddy, TD Christian cell head Bishop Harry Sebastian, Mr Revanth Reddy’s aide Rudra Uday Simha and mediator Jerusalem Mattaiah.

The chargesheet, a copy of which is available with Deccan Chronicle, depends heavily on the statements of the complainant, Anglo-Indian nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson, other witnesses and video and audio recordings to state that Revanth Reddy and Bishop Sebastian had acted with authorisation from Mr Naidu.

The ACB said that during the investigation, oral and documentary evidence established that the three accused belonged to the TD.

The ACB mentioned in the chargesheet that the investigation official of the case got a message from Accused 4 Jerusalem Mattaiah from his mobile to his official mobile on June 2, which said: “Sorry Sir, TD people advised to switch off my mobile. I will call u morning pls. excuse because I have to look over my future bail expenses pls sir @ Jerusalem (sic).”
Mathaiah had sent this in reply to the notice given by the investigating official.
